It would appear that Kamala Harris is contemplating beginning a new chapter in New York City, even if it likely will not be in the White House.
Page Six reports that Doug Emhoff recently went on a tour of a luxurious three-bedroom apartment located in the Park Loggia condo building on the Upper West Side. The apartment comes with a hefty price tag of $20,000 per month.
The sustained importance of the couple was highlighted by the fact that Emhoff arrived at the Lincoln Center high-rise on the previous Friday, surrounded by a procession of SUVs and a phalanx of Secret Service officials.
There has been no word as of now regarding whether or not the power couple intends to take possession of the apartment.
However, a source mentioned, "Not from me, but I heard they were looking to be bicoastal."
It appears from this that they are contemplating adopting a way of life that would enable them to divide their time between New York and Los Angeles over their lifetime.
In spite of the fact that the soon-to-be-former Vice President and Second Gentleman want to continue using Los Angeles as their primary base after leaving Number One Observatory Circle this week, Emhoff has in fact been investigating the possibility of purchasing a home in New York City on their behalf, according to a different source.
It is interesting to note that according to the Economic Times, Emhoff's daughter, Ella, lives in Bushwick, Brooklyn, which may be another factor that contributes to their interest in the neighborhood.
According to a recent report by the New York Times, Harris, who was defeated by Donald Trump in the general election held in November, will be leaving office without any specific plans for her future.
Given that she has been working in the public sector ever since she was elected to the position of district attorney in San Francisco in 2003, this represents a huge adjustment for her.
It has been brought to the attention of friends, aides, and political supporters that it is too early for Harris to consider her next moves; nonetheless, they are in agreement that the sixty-year-old political figure will have a wide range of choices accessible to her.
During this interim period, the couple could think it would be sensible to consider purchasing a second residence, particularly in light of the difficulties they have in Los Angeles. Their current property is situated in a region that is badly impacted by wildfires, more notably within the evacuation zone for the Brentwood fire.
This circumstance highlights the importance of securing a housing arrangement that is both secure and reliable for them as they traverse this new era of their lives.
Business Times has reached out to Kamala Harris for comments.
