Robert F. Kennedy Jr. faced fierce backlash Wednesday over past claims that Lyme disease is a "bioweapon" and contradictory statements on vaccines during his Health Secretary hearing, with wife Cheryl Hines visibly tense beside him.
On Wednesday, January 29, Cheryl Hines, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s spouse, and I attended the first day of his confirmation hearing for his nomination as Secretary of Health and Human Services.
They arrived at the building side by side, and photos show them kissing sweetly before the intense round of questioning started. The couple has been married since 2014.
While sitting in the audience, the 59-year-old actress wore a blue pinstripe suit over a white blouse.
In the past, Kennedy Jr. has made contentious comments about vaccines, COVID-19, and other health-related issues, and as OK! previously documented, he was bombarded with questions concerning conspiracy theories and other such remarks.
Using statements from Kennedy Jr.'s books and podcasts as evidence, Senator Ron Wyden accused him of favoring quacks and charlatans throughout the hearing, particularly on the safety and effectiveness of vaccines.
According to him, discouraging parents from vaccinating their children against potentially deadly diseases has been his life's mission.
The senator deduces that it has been profitable for Kennedy Jr. and has brought him close to tremendous power. This person fits the description of someone whose ambitions take them to any length, including the sad end of innocent children and other vulnerable populations, in their pursuit of power and wealth.
On multiple occasions, John F. Kennedy Jr. refuted anti-vaccine sentiments and emphasized the importance of vaccines to health care.
"In your testimony today, in order to prove you're not anti-vax, you note that all your kids are vaccinated. But in a podcast in 2020, you said, and I quote, you 'would do anything, pay anything to go back in time and not vaccinate [your] kids,'" Wyden replied. "Mr. Kennedy, all of these things cannot be true. So are you lying to Congress today when you say you are pro-vaccine? Or did you lie on all those podcasts? We have all of this on tape, by the way."
The 71-year-old lawmaker said that his response was misconstrued due to being cut short.
During another part of the hearing, Kennedy Jr. denied saying that pesticide exposure could cause transsexual children. Lyme disease is probably a materially manufactured bioweapon, however he did confess to suggesting that.
On Thursday, January 30, Kennedy Jr. will likely face a second round of questioning during a separate hearing.
