A small plane carrying six passengers crashed in Northeast Philadelphia Friday evening, resulting in a massive explosion and fires near the Roosevelt Mall. Local authorities are investigating the incident, which has intensified controversy after President Trump's social media response drew widespread criticism.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Friday, a tiny plane that was carrying six people crashed into a parking lot area in Northeast Philadelphia. This resulted in a large explosion and caused many residences to catch fire.
It was reported by NBC Philadelphia that the flight was a "angel flight" that was headed to Mexico. After only one minute of flight, the aircraft crashed to the ground close to the Roosevelt Mall. It had been in the air for only one minute.
Utilizing his Truth Social platform, Trump offered his thoughts on the crash.
"So sad to see the plane go down in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. More innocent souls lost. Our people are totally engaged. First Responders are already being given credit for doing a great job. More to follow. God Bless you all," he remarked.
The president has been the target of criticism on social media, with some pointing out that he is going to Mar-a-Lago this weekend, others pointing out that he was selling his meme coin around the same time that the crash occurred, and still others recalling his baseless claim that diversity programs were a contributing factor in a mid-air collision that occurred earlier this week in Washington, North Carolina, which resulted in the deaths of 67 people, The Raw Story reports.
In a post on X, Democratic strategist Chris D. Jackson stated that Trump is en route to Florida for his second vacation in just two weeks since assuming office, and that another aircraft crashed in Philadelphia.
"There's no bottom. Less than two hours after the plane crash in Philadelphia-and just 48 hours after the deadly midair collision in D.C.-the Grifter-in-Chief took to Truth Social to pump his shitcoin scam. Absolutely disgusting," the anti-Trump account Republicans Against Trump tweeted on X.
Chair of the Suffolk Young Democrats in New York, Skyler Johnson, sarcastically advised people to be calm while Donald Trump determined which ethnic group was responsible for the recent plane disaster in Philadelphia.
A journalist named Ed Krassenstein also took to X to wonder why President Trump has presided over so many aviation crashes.
Sara Spector, a criminal defense attorney, stated in a post published on Bluesky that the federal, state, and local authorities are coordinating their efforts to preserve lives in Philadelphia tonight. On the other hand, these are government employees, the exact same individuals that Trump and Musk attack as being dishonest or as being DEI employees.
