Xiaomi has unveiled its most ambitious flagship lineup yet, introducing the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, with early units already available globally through direct importers. The new devices replace last year's Xiaomi 15 series and mark the debut of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a 3nm chipset designed to deliver top-tier performance for gaming, AI workloads, and multitasking.
The Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are aimed squarely at rivals like Apple's iPhone 17 Pro and Google's Pixel 10 Pro, offering distinctive features including a rear-mounted OLED display. The Dynamic Back Display supports customizable watch faces, animated AI wallpapers, virtual pets, and can double as a selfie preview screen. Closing the main display activates a "Handheld Console Mode" that turns the phone into a retro gaming console when paired with a Bluetooth controller case.
Pricing for the Xiaomi 17 Pro in China starts at CNY 4,999 (approximately $686) for the 12GB + 256GB variant, with top-tier models reaching CNY 5,999 (about $824) for 16GB + 1TB. The 17 Pro Max starts at CNY 5,999 for 12GB + 512GB and climbs to CNY 6,999 (roughly $962) for 16GB + 1TB. Giztop has already listed the Xiaomi 17 globally starting at $799, with the 17 Pro priced at $899 and the 17 Pro Max at $999.
The display technology has been significantly upgraded. The Xiaomi 17 Pro features a 6.3-inch 1.5K M10 OLED LTPO display with HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and peak brightness up to 3,500 nits, while the Pro Max increases screen size to 6.9 inches and uses Xiaomi Shield Glass 3.0 for better durability. Both devices offer adaptive refresh rates from 1-120Hz, 1920Hz PWM dimming, and superior color accuracy for HDR content.
Camera hardware is a major highlight, with Leica-engineered triple setups across the two models. Each includes a 50MP Light Fusion 950L main sensor with Hyper OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP 5x telephoto zoom. The Pro Max extends its telemacro capability to 30cm and uses a wider f/2.6 aperture. A 50MP front camera supports 4K video at 60fps, appealing to creators and vloggers.
Under the hood, both phones offer 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.1 storage up to 1TB, running Xiaomi's HyperOS 3 software. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, UWB, and NavIC-enabled GPS. The battery setup is equally aggressive: 6,300mAh on the 17 Pro and 7,500mAh on the Pro Max, both supporting 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and reverse wireless power sharing.
