iOS 11.4.1 Released By Apple With Small Fixes For iPhones And iPads

Apple delivers yet again. Owners of iPad and iPhones are set to receive the latest update for the iOS, the iOS 11.4.1. It is fifteenth in line following a series of updates since the launch of iOS 11 last September. The updates will roll out for devices running on iOS 11.4 such as the iPhone 5S, the iPad Air, the iPad mini 2, and the iPod touch 2015 series.

Among the expected updates, the iOS release delivers some timely security fixes which build upon previous improvements delivered in past updates. Apple's security page, as per ArsTechnica, has yet to confirm what these updates are, but from initial information, it is said to:

• Fix an issue with the 'Find My iPhone' function which prevented users from knowing where their AirPods are.
• Allows for seamless integration, particularly for contacts, mail, and notes with Exchange accounts.

So far, this release of the iOS also delivers a few updates in time for its delivery in September this year. A new feature is the USB Restricted Mode that makes security restrictions tighter for iPhone, iPad, and iPod users. The setting can be found under Settings>Face ID & Passcode or, consequently, Settings>Touch ID & Passcode.

All of these are set to arrive before the rollout of the iOS 12, hinted at by Apple during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) last June. iOS 12 is teased to have a number of improvements on performance as well as support for ARKit 12, new Animojis, Group FaceTime, Memoji, as well as other features and apps, according to Forbes.

There are still a lot of features rolling out before the latest iOS edition, the iOS 12, comes out. Updates have been confirmed for the Apple Watch, Apple TV, and the HomePod (specifically watchOS 4.3.2, tvOS 11.4.1, and HomePod 10.4.1). Most of these are, however, small performance fixes and improvements.

If the past releases of iOS are any indication, these are the updates in-between. It can also be viewed as a hint toward when iOS 12 will arrive on Apple devices compatible with it. Most likely, Apple will release iOS 12 falls this year.
