If rumors are to be believed, the highly-anticipated Nokia X5 could see the light of the day on July 11 with specs that rival that of the Xiaomi Mi8 and even the Apple iPhone X.
According to GSM Arena, the latest Nokia X-series iteration will be unveiled during an event in Beijing at 8 PM (local time) of the aforementioned date.
An earlier report from the same website cited an alleged photo of the upcoming device posted on TENAA, complete with spec details and Bluetooth certification listing. Similar press renders were subsequently found on Baidu showing the front face of the phone and its back.
Manufacturing company HMD Global reportedly confirmed the July 11 outing event in China for the Nokia X5, which will then be known globally as Nokia 5.1 Plus.
The Nokia X6 successor is expected to sport a dual (13MP + 5MP) rear-facing camera combo housed above the fingerprint sensor. On the front is an 8-megapixel snapper.
The chin on the bottom of the 5.86-inch HD+ display screen yields a 19:9 aspect viewing ratio. It will also have a notch reminiscent of today's latest flagship phone screens.
Performance-wise, the new phone could find favor among Nokia X-series fans thanks to the Helio P60 with capacity that will further be enhanced by the 3 or 4 GB of RAM. However, there are speculations that an international version might come out with a Snapdragon 600-series CPU rather than the reported MediaTek chipset.
Unlike the X6 though, the Nokia X5 will only encase a 3000mAh battery which is a tad smaller than its predecessor.
Meanwhile, the price of the Nokia X5 / Nokia 5.1 Plus is touted to play around $120 - $150, depending on the memory-size variant. Given these details, the new Nokia device will definitely attract tech consumers who are looking for phones with close-to flagship specs but falls in a mid-range pricing.
Stay tuned for more updates.
