The situation in Thailand-12 boys trapped in a cave with their coach has finally reached a fulfilling conclusion with all 12 rescued, along with their coach. People are rejoicing, but while Elon Musk is clearly rejoicing along with the people on the successful operation, he still managed to make his side heard on the issue concerning his rejected help.
The Guardian reports that the trailblazing CEO did not take rejection more kindly. Narongsak Osatanakorn, the operations chief as well as head of the joint command center overseeing the rescue operations, said that while he appreciated Musk's offer, it wasn't practical, considering the situation in the cave where the boys were trapped.
The SpaceX head and owner had earlier gone to Twitter to tweet his support, even going so far as to mobilize his resources. This resulted in a small submersible he dubbed 'Wild Boar' in honor of the football team. He said that the sub could be used to help a single person navigate the narrow crevices of the cave to safety.
He went to Twitter again after the operations chief shot down plans of using the sub in the actual operation. According to Independent UK, Musk believes that the sub would've performed admirably. He also said that the sub could've navigated the narrow openings with ease, most especially a particularly dangerous curve in the cave; he said that the sub was 'specifically designed' to easily pass through that narrow curve.
Richard Stanton, a British diver who was the first to make contact with the trapped team, was consulted by Elon Musk and he also said that he would rather trust the diver's opinion other than anyone else present on-site.
His opinions notwithstanding, he joined everyone else in jubilation when the last boy, as well as their coach, made it out safely. He reiterated his idea of leaving the submersible behind, believing that it would be useful for future operations.
The boys, meanwhile, were invited to the World Cup Final. However, that wouldn't be possible as they still had medical treatment to complete; instead, the boys were invited by British football club Manchester United to watch their games this season.
