Rolls-Royce, a British jet engineer is seeking for possible interested partners to develop a project that could take passengers to the skies in the next decade. The company has already designed a flying taxi with an incredible propulsion system. It aims to develop flying taxis that will definitely change how the people live and travel.

On July 15, Rolls-Royce said that they have drawn plans of flying taxi that could carry around four to five people for approximately 500 miles at a speed of 250 miles per hour. This project is possible because the company is known for making motors for ships, planes, and helicopters

The company’s design of the flying taxi will be showcased at the Farnborough Airshow that will start on July 16. The show is expected to be in digital form. The partners that Rolls-Royce is looking for should meet their requirements so to put make the project successful. They are seeking companies that can give them great features in terms of electrical system because this will help the company to commercialize the project.

The company stated that “The initial concept of the vehicle uses gas turbine technology to generate electricity to power six electric propulsors specially designed to have a low noise profile.” Moreover, they said that the taxi is charged with the gas turbine. So, there is no need for it to recharge.

The project will make the flying taxi a reality and ordinary in the near future. If the project happens, gone are the days when we only see flying cars like those we watch in the cartoon entitled “The Jetsons”. Now, both the aviation and the technology leaders will be working hand-in-hand and full force to put it in reality.
