A prominent ride-sharing service In China called Didi Chuxing fired two of their executive employees and a car-pooling service after the deaths of two female passengers in the last three months.

These crimes, according to The New York Times, were followed by people raising questions about their ability to protect women who avail the services. It really is a bad timing for Didi because they were one of the most successful start-ups in the world. The business has already been expanding all throughout China and around the globe.

If opportunity allows, they are even expected to raise billions of dollars in seeking to sell shares in public markets. Unfortunately, safety for women who use their services became questionable after a series of incidents. Consumers reportedly took their concern online and called for a boycott of the company's services.

Deaths involving Didi Chuxing services

The above-mentioned source revealed that the latest crime involves a passenger surnamed Zhao. Zhao, who is a female passenger, used Hitch last Friday, the company's carpooling service in the Eastern city of Wenzhou. Moreover, the driver was arrested on Saturday. According to the Wenzhou Police, the woman was raped and stabbed in the neck.

In line with this, a 21-year-old flight attendant was also found dead last May after using Didi's Hitch in Central City Zhengzhou. Talking about their executive employees, the company fired Huang Jieli and Huang Jinhong, who are Hitch's general manager and customer service operations, respectively. At the moment, both can't be reached for their comments.

Didi Chuxing explained that the said drivers submitted authentic documents to the company. But their ultimate regret is not investigating immediately after a customer filed a complaint prior to the murder incident. It has been revealed that on Thursday, the driver asked the passenger to sit next to him several times, brought her to a remote place, and even followed her after leaving the car.

"As a platform, we have disappointed the public's trust in us and cannot shirk this responsibility," said the company. They truly blamed themselves for it.

One friend of the woman who recently died said they called the company seven times but ended up not reaching them. Another friend went to Wenzhou police station, but when the officers contacted the company, they said the request may take three to four hours.

Due to this matter, Chinese citizens online condemned the company for their slow response. Over 53 women have already been raped by Didi drivers these past four years.
