Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has been considered by many reliable sources and smartphone analysts as one of the best handsets of this year. The display features of the handset have been specifically praised by many top research firms like DisplayMate, as the best in class display in the industry now with an A+ grade. But certain firms, which dug deep into Samsung Galaxy Note 9's display found some disturbing reality about the smartphone.

One of the top tech analysis specialists, NotebookCheck, which has been analyzing PC and laptops for some time, found that the display of Galaxy Note 9 has an eerie display flickering issue, known as pulse-width modulation or PWM, a brightness enhancing technology which is usually not common in smartphones but pretty common in terms of laptops and high-end PCs. Samsung uses the technology in its smartphones as an adjusting segment of brightness.

According to Valuewalk, the Galaxy Note 9 display actually flickers in lower brightness settings. The Note 9 screen flickers at 227Hz, which is low enough to cause a  headache, eyestrain, and tiredness to sensitive users. The report even recommended not to buy or use Samsung Galaxy Note 9 handsets to those sensitive users who occasionally suffer from headaches and eyestrains.

Potential sources and experts also warned persons with low eye-sights and visually departed users to not keep their eyes on Samsung Galaxy Note 9's display interface as the flickers may cause severe harms to their eyes as well as damaging their brain cells.

Valuewalk's report even briefed that if a user wants to keep the display brightness to 60 percent he must keep the digital signal on for 60% of the time and off for the remaining 40% of the time. The process happens at a rapid pace and the frequency o the same measured in Hertz. The intensity of the process can be such high that the 'off' state may become less noticeable, at times.

However, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is not the only phone to demonstrate such flickering issue. Few months' before OnePlus 6 users also reported such a display flickering issue in sunlight. NotebookCheck tested the issue and found out that display flickering appears on OnePlus 6 at a frequency of 236Hz, which is pretty close to the issue of Galaxy Note 9.

OnePlus 6 users witnessed the display flickering problem in such a manner that a slight movement triggered to two different brightness level. Although, some users reported that clearing the cache of the phone was automatically fixing the issue,  however, no such effective solutions have been reported yet for Galaxy Note 9's issue
