Google has sent out invites for an event on October 9, 2018, likely to officially announce the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL phones.

The invite Google sent out, according to The Verge, is one that features a simple phrase, "I <3 NY." While the invite doesn't give much, the number "3" is there, indicating the reveal of the third-generation Pixel smartphones.

Of course, fans can simply expect the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL to be officially revealed in the said event, but what should excite people all the more are the things that Google has kept silent about. Rumors and alleged leaks about the Pixel 3 devices can be easily found on the internet, but what Google has been working on in secret remains secret.

If it's anything to go by, last year's Google event saw the official announcement of several hardware products such as the Pixelbook, the Google Home Mini and Max, Google's Pixel Buds, and Clips.

For this year's event, Google might just announce a refreshed Pixelbook and new Pixel Buds. Maybe Google has some more surprises in store, so stay tuned for the Google event happening in New York on Tuesday, October 9 at 11:00 a.m. ET/10 a.m. CT/8 a.m. PT.

Since the event is still a month away and Google hasn't confirmed any details, consumers can only feed on rumors. Here are some of the rumors most likely to be true:

An All-Glass Back

Photos shared to the XDA Developers forum showed the Pixel 3 XL's back panels. At first glance, the back panel looks to be a combination of metal and glass, but in reality, it's an all-glass panel -- with the lower part given a matte finish.

This all-glass back panel also seems to imply that the Pixel 3 XL will have wireless charging convenience. Perfect for those who find cables messy.

Design

Renders of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL leaked online show that the third-generation Pixel smartphones will look like their older second-generation siblings, only with some minor details added.

Type-C Headphones

Google probably realized that doing away with the 3.5mm headphone jack on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL turned people off, but instead of designing the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL to have one, they opted to include a pair of USB type-C headphones in the box. At least that's what an unboxing video showed.

Just a reminder: these are but rumors, so take them all with a grain of salt. Google's official announcement is coming up shortly, and so it's best to wait for the actual reveal.
