As it has already ruled over the emerging vehicle markets of the world, Nissan now plans to extend its kingdom in India as well. The company has scaled down a number of strategies for the Indian market, which brief that it will launch new SUVs and cost-effective electric vehicles. Among these, the first one to soon appear on road is the brand new Nissan Kicks.
The Times of India extracted the first ever sketchy images of India bound Nissan Kicks which is reportedly in production currently. The report suggests that the new Nissan Kicks would have an edgy design which is quite different from the current international model often seen in the streets of Dubai and the US. The upcoming variant is said to be released in the first phase of 2019.
The car will hold an SUV-like design with the new 'V-motion grille' a trademark which Nissan intends to put forward to the world as a signature of excellence. It is also rumored to be a Honda Creta killer in terms of specifications and pricing. As per car analysts, this will be Nissan's first take in India to overtake its Japanese rival Honda. Besides all these, there is also a slight change in terms of the usage of design platforms for Nissan Kicks India edition when compared to its global model.
GaadiWaadi noted that Nissan currently uses the iconic V-platform for its international model of Kicks SUV. As the car was originally developed like a premium crossover for the emerging markets like the USA, Dubai, Canada etc., it boasted the high-end V-platform. But for the Indian market, Nissan is opting for a different and reasonable dual-platform strategy. Thus, Nissan Kicks India SUV will boast the widely-praised Dacia B0 platform, which is larger than the former one as well. Renault Duster, Capture and Nissan Terrano also share the same B0 platform as parts of the Renault-Nissan joint operation in India.
India bound Nissan Kicks would have two engine options, a 1.5-litre H4K petrol engine, and the 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine. The engine architecture is said to be based on CVT. The car will come with a standard transmission with a six-speed manual gearbox. However, Nissan is also rumored to launch an automatic transmission model with high-end specifications and features with an expensive price range. Nissan Kicks is expected to have LED headlights and LED DRLs coupled with 17-inch alloy wheels. The costing segment of the car is still a mystery.
