There's a huge possibility that Russell Westbrook might miss a couple of games of Oklahoma City Thunder in the new season.
ESPN's Royce Young revealed the 2017 MVP had undergone arthroscopic surgery on his right knee last Wednesday. According to Give Me Sport, he will not be joining the training camp of the team this month and this could potentially sideline him for the entire preseason schedule.
The 29-year-old basketball player might also miss his team's season opener against the Golden State Warriors. Aside from this, he might miss OKC's several games too depending on his recovery. His team spoke of re-evaluating the situation in four weeks and that's when they will determine when Westbrook is likely to come back.
Therefore, less are the chances that he will join the campaign's opening game on Oct. 16 against the Warriors. Many NBA fans are hoping he would be cleared in four weeks and go back to being 100 percent healthy. After all, the team will be in rush to get him back with 82 game schedule.
Earlier reports revealed the 7-time all-star NBA player still felt the stiffness in his knee during the individual workout these past few weeks. It is said that Westbrook decided to have a standard maintenance procedure as he wanted to avoid issues throughout the year.

The situation has been a setback for OKC but this does not seem to the biggest concern when it comes to their best player. However, it will certainly become a concern for fans as this is already the fourth surgery for his right knee. This fourth surgery is the first in over five years.
For those who are not aware, Westbrook had a collision with Patrick Beverley during the 2013 playoffs. In result, he tore a meniscus in the knee and led to three surgeries in nine months. He missed five games in three seasons following his complete recovery.
Westbrook, famously known for being his team's point guard, was labeled MVP two years ago. This was following his title as the second player in NBA history averaging a triple-double. The history repeats again in 2017-2018 campaign after he posted 10.4 assists, 10.7 rebounds, and 25.4 points. According to the earlier mentioned source, this was accomplished the third time in the league's history.
Just like any other team that has championship aspirations every year, Oklahoma is hoping for Russell Westbrook's return to lead the charge.
