The Philadelphia 76ers have been courting Daryl Morey for a long time as the replacement of general manager Bryan Colangelo. This is only a direction to the organization's ambitious desire for the next chapter of the Sixers basketball.

In the same way, Sixers had hoped of courting Lebron James and Paul George, wounding them up with Mike Muscala and Wilson Chandler. After all of this, the theme continued in finally settling with the replacement of Colangelo. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Philadelphia has finally hired Elton Brand as their General Manager on Tuesday.

Brand will reportedly be promoted from being the vice president of Basketball Operations. It is safe to say that along with Brett Brown, he made a strong impression of ownership during the whole process. He defeated several candidates from inside and out of the team's whole organization.

ESPN reported how Brand gave the ownership a vision, an ability to grow in the said position, and preparedness in crucial times.

According to Deadspin, there is no reason why this scenario should totally fail. However, it is indeed a long shot from hoping to land in one of the most respected and successful general managers up to promoting someone who played for the 76ers two years ago. If were are setting things straight, Brett Brown will now basically answer to someone he coached from the historically awful 10-72 squad, 2015-2016 season.

For those who are not aware, Brand was previously from a Sixers roster spot to a player development role. He started in that position in late 2016 and become the developmental league team's general manager in August. Well, the meteoric rise of Elton Brand has at least some experience of being a general manager.

Brand is already 39-year old and as mentioned earlier, has served in the past year as the GM of 76ers' G League affiliate in Delaware. He actually retired in 2016, spending two years in the organization before elevating to the front office. As per the report, among to those considered candidates for the vacant general manager position was Justin Zanik (Utah Jazz assistant GM), Gersson Rosas (Houston Rockets vice president) and Larry Harris (Golden State Warriors GM).

As for the internal candidates, the list includes the senior VP of the player personnel Marc Eversley and assistant GM Ned Cohen. Before Brand, Brett Brown served as the interim GM since Brya Angelo resigned last June. It can be recalled that his admitted operating Twitter accounts, criticizing the members and propped up her husband.
