The BMW 3 Series sedan keeps holding on in a world filled with tough competition against the utility vehicles.

It can be recalled that the said compact car is BMW's second best selling vehicle in the United States. According to FOX NEWS, the sedan was just behind the X3 SUV while the 4 series coupes based on it are not counted. It could have been pushed way to the front if they still share the 3 series name.

However, everything will change next year amidst the latest generation being on sale since 2012. As mentioned by the earlier source, at the Paris Motor Show, BMW revealed an all-new 3 series. The new launch is reportedly larger, more powerful, lighter, and filled with several interesting tech features.

First on the list is the four-door styling inside and out that resembles the shrunk version of the latest 5-series sedan. It is said to be available in 33oi and M340i trim levels. The former, on the other hand, has 2 liters if four-cylinder turbo. Along with these are 225 horsepower and the latter powered by 3 liters turbocharged inline 6-cylinder rated and 382 hp. In the end, both are available with the following:

  • A rear biased all-wheel-drive system
  • Equipped with the 8-speed automatic transmissions
  • A new backup assistant that can record and steer inputs at less than 22 mph speed.
  • Recreation of speed in reverse at only 5.5 mph to help people navigate in a tight space.

While the manual is not being offered or even available, the prominent Ultimate Driving Machine will do more of the driving experience for you. This includes how to get in and out of the parallel and perpendicular parking spaces and the car can do this by itself. Everything is reportedly a neat trick considering a lot of technologies have been emerging to this day. An expected array of 360-degree cameras will go along with this; lane-departure assist, automatic emergency brakes, and adaptive cruise control are also available.

Moreover, the avid followers of BMW may also expect the hybrid version in 2020. At the moment, BMW has held the line on pricing for the new model that will begin at $41,245 as it is going to be on sale next spring. Other reports describe BMW 3-series with a sportier look as it has now shown off a wide range of M Performance Parts. Check out the 3-series at the original BMW Accessories Program.
