You can find everything on Instagram, from fashion, style, inspirations, and pegs, there are appropriate hashtags and pages you can follow. The platform is also famous for its beauty trends and makeup tutorials. So here are some of the best beauty techniques that you need to know.
Baking
In the early days, queens already used baking. Now, this beauty trend is back in the limelight -- thanks to Instagram.
According to the South China Morning Post, the Instagram beauty community adapted baking from the drag circle and made it popular online. It is putting a thick layer of powder on some areas of your face with a beauty sponge and dust it off with a brush after 10 to 15 minutes.
The thick layer of powder traps the heat you produce from your skin and the "translucent power," which called baking. It bakes the foundation and concealer to quickly set in that helps the pigment stay longer. It will make your make-up stay and look matt longer. It is best to use on the areas of your face that make-up quickly fades or turns oily like the chin, forehead, under the eyes, under the cheekbone contour.
Contouring
Contouring is another beauty trend that you can find on Instagram. The Kardashian family is best known for using this beauty technique.
Contouring is creating a shadow in your face to enhance your bone structure, making it more visible. It is best to apply on the "hollow" parts of your face like cheekbones, jawline, and forehead.
Strobing
Strobing is also a part of Instagram beauty trend. It is another term for highlighting to add some color and shine to your face.
"It's an easy way to add colour to your look if you're not used to wearing colour," the celebrity make-up artist Patrick Ta, who has 1.1 million followers on Instagram, told Refinery29. He uses strobing by adding a shadow color as a base on his client's face and another highlighter that has the same undertone to make it shine.
Straight Brows
A lot of girls today are obsessed to make their eyebrows on fleek. And as the '80s fashion is back on the spotlight, the Instagram beauty trend returns the straight brows.
But unlike in the early days, recreating the straight brows don't need heavy tweezing that will make your brows thinner. You just have to use an angled brush to fill in your brows' natural arches, and create the straight shape by adding some color in the areas you need it. You can wet your brush to make it more precise and use a color lighter you usually use. You can even use your old eyeshadow for it.
