The 8 Series was marketed as luxury coupés. Is it really a smart move to forge it towards the race track? Or perhaps this is they're way of testing the waters towards expanding to the upper luxury segment?

Design and Engine

BMW boasts that the 8 series will sport a new design language which has a separate launching this November. The new aesthetics will sport a very modern and very clean design for its new flagship luxury coupe.

A convertible version is scheduled for release in 2019. However, leaked photos have recently circulated online.

The exterior sports an Italian classic race-car style with low flowing rooflines and broad muscular shoulders.

Under the hood is a 4.4-liter twin-power turbo, V8 petrol engine (8 cylinders) which brings 530 hp, 553 lb-ft of torque, at 390 kW.  That makes it accelerate to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and it has an 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

It is expected to reek a combined fuel consumption at 10 to 10.5 per 100km with combined C02 emissions at 240 to 228 g/km.

The length is at 15 ft long just 25 cm shorter than a regular sedan. Hence, it is aptly a coupe.

Carbon Trim

May not be the first to catch attention, but its carbon trims stand out. Its side mirrors have a carbon trim detail, carbon lining on the wing, and carbon fiber on the roof as well. The black design immediately pops out in contrast against the 'Sunset Orange' variant.

Dual Exhaust Pipes and Diffuser

It has dual or a provisionary 4 exhaust pipes with an extra valve. Owners have the luxury of customizing each 8 series coupe to call their own.

Seats

The interiors sport Merino Leather all throughout. There will be no sustainable alternatives to this one. For those who aren't familiar, Merino leather is a natural fine-grained leather which is dyed without any artificial coat.

Not to be forgotten is the signature 8 series stitching and piping design. BMW releases model exclusive details up to the most minute detail.

Exterior Aesthetic

It boasts a streamlined headlight design. It maintains the high-precision hexagonal shape. It has one of the flattest design available in the market combined with the signature 'L shaped' design.

Colors

Four colors were officially announced so far. Firstly, 'Sunset Orange, 'Matte Gray,' 'Carbon Black,' and 'Metallic Dark Blue.' BMW announces though that other variant will soon be added in the com

New Level of Personalization

Digital Key feature

It will sport an 'Android Digital Key Integration.' However, this will ONLY be available for Samsung's S7 or higher models with an Android Oreo (8.1) operating system and NFC chip.

Non-Android users fret not, as there is a computer key option available for them. Carplay is still not available. The German firm, however, announced they are working on it but did not confirm whether the 8 series will have it sooner.
