Derrick Rose having a rough few years would be an understatement. Rose, known as a former league MVP, experience his run with the Chicago Bulls reportedly come to an unceremonious end.
According to ESPN, Derrick Rose has one disappointing season with the New York Knicks. After that, he signed up to join the Cleveland Cavaliers and star-studded lineup last season but he only ended up taking a leave of absence from the team before he was eventually traded. During the latter part of the last season, he signed on with the Minnesota Timberwolves but it seems the like the coach was just doing a favor for his former ace player. However, in the midst of all these, Rose never lost faith in his self. He even told The Undefeated Senior NBA writer Marc Spears that he will grab anything that comes his way.
Just as the star player said, he proved it in the best way possible on Wednesday night. He scored a career-high 50 points that helped the Wolves lead to a three-point win. He reportedly made the go-ahead basket with 30 seconds left and then obtained a three-point cushion for Minnesota. While there are only 13.8 seconds, he still managed to obtain a pair of free throws to reach the 50-point mark.
The 50 points of Rose is an NBA player's fourth most scored this season. This is also tied to an NBA player's s second most ever scored on a Halloween season. This brought Rose back to the moment when he earned him league MVP honors in 2010-11. Of course, this captured the attention of his NBA colleagues as well on Twitter. They expressed their excitement to see the 30-year-old Rose being in his prime self again.
As people all know, the 50-point night of Rose came while they were up against the Utah Jazz. It was the team that released him after acquiring him from Cleveland at a trade deadline last season in a multi-team trade. The earlier source revealed Rose never suited up for the Jazz and even spent out of the league for almost a month before he was picked up by Minnesota.
Aside from the 50 points, Derrick Rose blocked the 3-point attempt of Dante Exum which could have led into a potential tie game in the final seconds. It is safe to say he preserved the Timberwolves' win. Rose has now an average of 18.8 points per game and this is his most since the year 2011-12.
