Apple's long-admired professional video editing software: Final Cut Pro X, is getting a superlative update today. The company will now allow third-party integration to the software. This means that third-party apps will get permission to be integrated with Final Cut Pro X. Apple has termed this as 'workflow extensions.'
According to The Verge, third-party plug-ins have already been allowed to Apple's Final Cut Pro X's interface. The integration of Third-party apps was perhaps the most awaited extension to the software for which the Pros of Video editing wd ere waiting for.
A spokesperson from Apple's end described: "This is the first time we are allowing third-party app integrations at this level that tie so tightly to the FCPX engine." He also believed that with this 'workflow extensions' third-party app makers will also streamline more apps to be integrated with the main interface of Find Cut Pro X, which will simultaneously increase the knack for workflow for the video editors.
As per a report by TechCrunch, primarily, Apple has allowed three third-party apps to be added to Find Cut Pro X. These are Frame.io, Shutterstock, and CatDV, which can be downloaded for free from Apple's MacApp Store. Frame.io, as the source describes, can be regarded as "Google Docs for video editing."
To be precise, this app can be used as a mode of communication between the video editors and their respective clients, where clients can comment or post notes of instructions for the editor, during each and every transition of the editing work in Final Cut Pro X.
Shutterstock can be considered as a library of various images, from where editors can take stock photos and utilize those in their editing tasks. Finally, CatDV can be used as a content catalog for tagged items. With its integration in Final Cut Pro X, a video editor can keep its tagged contents in CatDV, search for it when required in editing work and re-tag it to his work if needed.
Apple is reportedly working on to integrate more such third-party apps which are to be added to Final Cut Pro X in coming days. Users of the software can expect wholesome new features to be seen on the panel.
Apple's potential rivals (in terms of video editing software) like Adobe Premiere has added the attributes like Frame.io long back. Apple is rumored to line up a major stack of third-party apps to be added next, possibly beginning with 'Simon Says', a transcription-based app.
