2018's "God of War" for the PlayStation 4 was one of the biggest surprises of the year. "God of War" took the Playstation 4 scene by storm when - with Cory Barlog's direction - it introduced an actual storyline with a bit more depth in comparison to Kratos' roaring rampage of revenge in the series' first three main console games.

The game's incredible public reception and acclaim was an unexpected turn of events considering "God of War's" cheesy and hack-and-slash roots. IGN's own review of "God of War" highlights how the last installment to the franchise is definitely a "masterpiece." But it looks like the game's director, Cory Barlog has no plans to sit on his laurels despite some people calling "God of War" his creative peak.

According to GameSpot (via Comic Book), Cory Barlog has another secret project in mind after the critical success of "God of War." Interestingly, it was not Barlog himself who teased about a potentially bigger project from the creative mind that revived public interest in the "God of War" franchise.

Duncan Jones - more commonly known as the director of the "Warcraft" movie as well as the son of musician David Bowie - teased Barlog's fans on Twitter about the "God of War" director's upcoming project. Jones apparently met with Barlog to discuss a script that he had which eventually turned into a conversation where Barlog shared about his next project after "God of War."

Unfortunately for fans, Duncan Jones did not specify if Cory Barlog's latest project would be connected once again to the "God of War" franchise, or if it would be a new property that has yet to be developed altogether. To add to the speculation, Cory Barlog tweeted his reaction - a surprise and blushing emoji - to the news that his efforts on a secret project are now public. Still, Barlog has yet to officially confirm that the details shared by Duncan Jones are undeniably true.

Aside from the anticipated sequel to "God of War," GameSpot (via Game Informer) speculates that Barlog could also be working on a potential "Superman" game based on comments he made during PAX West 2018. But considering that Barlog's statements about a "Superman" video game were said during a panel asking why there have not been any successful "Superman" video games, such a project for the "God of War" director now seems unlikely.
