That quote from LeBron James saying "You probably do not want to be around when my patience runs out. I am serious" has sent mixed reactions through the Los Angeles Lakers fanbase.
According to Silver Screen and Roll, the quote might mean the patience of Lebron James with his kids is already wearing out. There are lots of potential reasons like Luke Walton not meeting his expectations. If the report of ESPN's Brian Windhorst is true, we can possibly find the answer to these questions.
As people all know, the 33-year-old has a specific brand of basketball that he prefers to play. It is safe to say that even if Walton desires a run-and-gun style of play and free-wheeling, he cannot control how the guys on the court would actually play, as some anonymous scouts pointed out to Windhorst saying,
"The scouts also have noticed that when James is running the point, he rarely looks toward the bench to receive playcalls from coach Luke Walton. Even when he has seen them, the scouts say, he ignores them and runs the play he prefers."
The qualifier in this situation is not being the slight of Walton aside. The only thing that's clear is it's much easier for someone like James to say they have no issue of foregoing how they have played for their entire career before the games begin or when things are going well. However, it is when people encounter difficult times that they tend to show to their true nature.
Moreover, the Lakers were able to play with a pace of 104.39 with James at this point of the season on the court. Lakers, unfortunately, have poorly executed the half-court and this is probably the main reason why the recent issues were piling up. The Lakers have not played well too since the injury of Rondo and this report dropping not necessarily but not either as a result coincidentally should come as a surprise.
Furthermore, things get playful here as well when the roster was place in the hopes LeBron James will do as he promised and grant some creative responsibilities not only to Walton as he designs an offense, but also to the people he shares the court with. The Lakers should supposedly give focus on surrounding James with the shooters because after all, he grew accustomed to playing with anyway. Playmakers are extremely useful if they are just standing in the corner to watch James make plays.
