Based on a recently spotted experimental feature, it seems that the popular audio streaming service is looking into expanding the audio experience its users can explore with its app. This time around, Spotify looks to be focusing on making their app experience more personal for their users.
Engadget recently covered the story about how known hidden app feature spotter, Jane Wong, recently noticed Spotify exploring new territories in their Android app. According to Wong, a new experimental feature might allow Spotify users to import their own music into the audio streaming app directly from their mobile phones.

Wong posted on Twitter some screenshots featuring a new settings option that allows Spotify users to import their music. Jane Wong also shows that the experimental Spotify feature is also currently functional, allowing her to upload three new songs into her personal Spotify library from an Android device.
Currently, Spotify does support importing local music files into Spotify when users use the desktop program. But a feature that directly uploads music files from a mobile phone to the Spotify app has yet to be possible. Spotify Premium users must still use the desktop program to add their own songs to a personal playlist before being able to download them into their mobile phones.
As an experimental feature, the ability to import personal music files into Spotify directly from a mobile device has yet to be officially confirmed by the audio streaming service. Because of this, there has yet to be news if the experimental feature is planned to be available only to Spotify premium users. In addition, Jane Wong's feature leak does not seem to cover the possibility of whether Spotify's potential future update will also make it on to the iOS platform.
Engadget notes that the experimental feature spotted by Jane Wong is not the only possible update to the Spotify app. The publication mentions potential improvements to Spotify's podcast menus such as a "saved for later" feature, as well as a revamped description menu that would organize the interface for podcast listeners if the feature makes it past experimentation. In addition, Spotify is also busy at testing a feature that would allow the app's library to automatically create a personal playlist based on a Spotify user's songs.
If the experimental features do make it to Spotify's app is another question that needs to be answered. As exciting as the potential future features Spotify has lined up for its users sound, Engadget notes that there is a high possibility that most of them never make it into the app's public builds.
