Samsung is slated to release its next flagship handset, the Galaxy S10 family in early 2019, and there have been leaks and rumors about the smartphones using top-of-the-line technology. But people are not just thrilled with the upcoming flagship smartphones, but also with the company's foldable phone, which recently got another possible name.

According to 91mobiles, Samsung filed for the foldable phone's trademark as "Galaxy Fold" on November 27 in the United Kingdom with application number UK00003356515 under the category called "Class 9" that is only intended for tablets and smartphones. The patent was reportedly filed on behalf of Samsung by London-based Fieldfisher LPP, which reportedly applied for another trademark called "Samsung Rize."

Samsung's first foldable phone was reportedly showcased at the Samsung Development Conference (SDC) 2018, which comes with a 7.3-inch Infinity Flex display that can be folded and unfolded in the middle. When folded, it will give way to a smartphone with a 4.6-inch display on its outer cover.

Recent reports also suggested that Samsung will start its mass production of the foldable phones soon, which will hit the store shelves next year during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019. For months, the foldable phone was dubbed as Samsung Flex, or Galaxy Flex, Galaxy X, Galaxy F or Galaxy Foldable, but with the recent report about the patent filing, many people speculated that the name "Galaxy Fold" will be the South Korean tech giant's final name for its first foldable phone.

According to a previous report from The Wall Street Journal, Samsung has considered its foldable phone's name with "Flex," which can make sense. But of course, the name Galaxy Fold definitely fits the device although there is still no confirmation from the tech heavyweight itself about the branding of the foldable phone.

Other tech giants such as LG and Huawei have also considered names with Flex to its foldable phones. LG has also filed trademarks with the European Union Intellectual Property Office considering Flex to its brand of foldable smartphone. Huawei, on the other hand, is allegedly considering names for its foldable phones such as Mate Flex, or Mate Flexi.

Talking about the innards of the Samsung Galaxy Fold, it will reportedly run One UI instead of Experience UI, which will work better on the foldable smartphone and tablet. Additionally, One UI allows up to three apps to work simultaneously on the background without interruption.

It is said that Samsung has collaborated with Google on building One UI for a better foldable phone experience.
