With the prevalence of retro game remakes and updates on the market, fans of games from the '90s and early 2000s have been particularly spoiled by the recent revival of beloved franchises. But there are more things to be excited about this holiday season as it seems Activision's revival of the "Crash Bandicoot" franchise could finally be opening the doors to a "Crash Team Racing" remake.
According to Eurogamer, fans of the racing mayhem classic "Crash Team Racing" can potentially look forward to a modern version of the game to be officially announced soon. The publication had noticed that the official "Crash Bandicoot" Facebook page had changed its cover photo to an image of racing stripes. The old Playstation exclusive may not have had a remake since its introduction in 1999 but Playstation Access presenter Hollie Bennett may have news about "Crash Team Racing" during the upcoming Game Awards.

In a Twitter post by Bennett, two fuzzy dice in the color of "Crash Bandicoot's" fur are featured with the teaser that something special will be "sliding into the Game Awards" on Dec. 6. Bennett mentions that the dice were delivered to her home by an anonymous sender. The fact that the red fuzzy dice are reminiscent of rear-view mirror accessories makes a "Crash Team Racing" remake announcement highly likely.
But Hollie Bennett is not the only gaming personality that received a pair of "Crash Team Racing" dice. Forbes gaming and tech contributor, Mitch Wallace, also received the same package with a similar note included in Bennett's post. Wallace notes that the last time he had received such an anonymous package was just before the "Spyro Reignited Trilogy" was announced. It seems that Activision is prefacing its retro game remakes such as "Crash Team Racing" with the teaser marketing activity to keep the video game journalism sphere guessing about their next move.
Both Eurogamer and Forbes note that the "Crash Team Racing" rumor has been circulating ever since the recent "Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy" remake made waves with its reintroduction to the public sphere. Both publications have actually been wondering when the "Mario Kart-styled" racing game featuring Crash, Coco, and the rest of the Bandicoot-verse cast would get a remake. While Activision has yet to officially announce an actual effort to bring back "Crash Team Racing," the publications do note that the red and fuzzy "Crash Bandicoot" dice are solid enough leads predict that the racing game will be making a comeback soon.
