All the speculation about orange-furred dice seems to have paid off for fans of the "Crash Bandicoot" franchise. Activision may have teased about a "Crash Team Racing" remake earlier in the year as an April Fool's joke but the light-hearted jab at fans may have just been a smokescreen for the game publisher's grand finale of game announcements for 2018.

"Crash Bandicoot" fans who heeded the call of the orange-furred dice were treated to an amazing show as Activision finally unleashed the official confirmation that "Crash Team Racing" would be returning to consoles. The "Crash Team Racing" teaser trailer showcased at the 2018 Game Awards featured in-game footage that was definitely a far cry from the graphics quality of the original 2001 game.
According to Gamespot, fans of the original "Crash Team Racing" can expect Activision's latest classic revival - now named "Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled" - to be available on consoles by June 21 next year. The "Crash Team Racing" remake will be handled by Beenox - the game development studio is best known for working on the toys-to-life title "Skylanders" and more recent entries to the "Call of Duty: Black Ops" franchise.
Fans can expect the revived "Crash Team Racing" game to sport modern graphics and features along with the original game's core gameplay completely intact. Some of the modern features that "Crash Team Racing" fans should watch out for including online gameplay, character and kart customization, and more co-op features. An update about the original game's highly popular 4-player split-screen racing feature being present in "Nitro-Fueled" has yet to be confirmed.
Fans who were initially looking forward to a simple remaster of the game actually got more than they were asking for with Beenox's remake. As Gamespot mentions, the upcoming "Crash Team Racing" remake was actually built from the ground-up by the Beenox team rather than a simple reskin of the original game. The publication notes that fans can potentially expect the original "Crash Team Racing" story mode to make a comeback when the remake is released.
Gamespot notes that upon release, the "Crash Team Racing" remake will feature a deluxe edition called the "Nitros Oxide Edition." Fans of "Crash Team Racing" who opt to buy the "Nitros Oxide Edition" will be able to enjoy immediate access to Nitros Oxide - a well-known boss character in the "Crash Bandicoot" franchise. The "Nitros Oxide" edition will also feature more skin customizations for "Crash Bandicoot" characters as well as their karts compared to the standard "Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled" release.
