The world finally found someone who will succeed the crown of last year's winner Manushi Chhillar of India, as the 26-year-old Mexican Model Silvia Vanessa Ponce de Leon Sanchez won the final competition of the prestigious and glamorous beauty pageant Miss World 2018 held in Sanya, China's Hainan Province on December 8, Saturday night.

With over a hundred and eighteen contestants fighting for the crown, the representative of Mexico stood up amid others and successfully hailed as the 68th Miss World. Followed by Thailand's Nicolene Pichapa Limsnukan as the first runner-up, and Uganda's Quiin Abenakyo as the third, as posted by Rappler.

Continental queen winners, on the other hand, include Maria Vasilevich of Belarus for Miss World Europe, Kadijah Robinson of Jamaica for Miss World Caribbean, Solaris Barba of Panama for Miss World Americas, Quiin Abenakyo of Uganda for Miss World Africa, and Nicolene Pichapa Limsnukan of Thailand for Miss World Asia and Oceania.

De Leon wasn't just victorious in winning the crown, but she is also made history as she became the first candidate who won the title for her country.

The event was made more colorful and amazing with the performance given by the American musical vocal group Sister Sledge as they made the audiences groove with their 1979 single "We Are Family."

When asked about how she felt after winning the crown, the newly crowned Miss World humbly answered, "I can't believe it, I really can't believe it. And I think all the girls deserved it. I am proud to represent all of them. I will do as much as I can in the time I have got. Thank you so much, everyone."

The newest Miss World has indeed captured the hearts of everyone especially on how down-to-earth she is. She is active in helping other people in need especially those that are disabled and girls that go to rehab centers. She even quit modeling so she could have more time to extend help and share that spark of hope to people's dark lives, according to E! Online.

During the pageant, she even grabbed the opportunity to inspire other people to do the same by saying, "We all can be an example of good in the world. There's always someone that will need what you have to offer. So, help anyone you can guys."

Before becoming the first Mexican beauty to won Miss World, De Leon has also worked as a TV host aside from being a model. She was also one of the speakers of the National Youth Institute and an active participant for Migrantes en el Camino.
