Xiaomi's rain of surprises for 2019 just started. Reliable Chinese sources had already confirmed the existence of Xiaomi Mi 9 back in 2019. The latest insight, which just appeared a few hours before, confirmed the upcoming smartphone's specs as well. The previously thought tri-camera pattern still remains but it now has more revolutionary surprises.
According to GSMArena, Xiaomi Mi 9 will have three snappers on its rear end holding a 48MP lens made of Sony's IMX586 sensor, accompanied by a 12MP secondary sensor and a third 3D TOF camera. As for the front end, Mi 9 will sport a 6.4-inch 19:9 FHD+ AMOLED display along with a water drop notch. The selfie snapper will be made of a 24MP Sony IMX576 sensor. The rear end is reportedly similar to that of Huawei P20 Pro, this means that there will be a LED flash which will be vertically placed with the three cameras.
As per a report by BGR, Xiaomi Mi 9 will be powered by Qualcomm's next-gen Snapdragon 855 chipset. The smartphone will run MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie and this will be one of the first phones from Xiaomi which will be fully running the newest edition of Android, out of the box. As for the memory setup, Xiaomi Mi 9 will start with the basic model having 6GB RAM coupled with 128GB internal memory space and this will be price tagged at CNY 2,999. The internal memory will be expandable up to a very high-range of storage with the help of MicroSD card, as per rumors.
Apart from this, Xiaomi Mi 9 is said to have a higher memory variant as well. The phone will have a dimension sizing 155x75x7.6 mm. The handset will have 3500 mAh battery backup which will be enough to ensure long-lasting power storage. The battery will be complemented with 32W fast wired charging option. Unfortunately, Xiaomi Mi 9 will not have any options for wireless charging.
The company is reportedly going to unwrap Mi 9 in this year's Mobile World Congress. Whether it will have 5G connectivity capacity is still a big question to be answered. Many of the potential sources have even claimed that the front look of Xiaomi Mi 9 will be resembling to that of OnePlus 6T. Is this Xiaomi's intentional attempt to take on OnePlus? It can only be answered as soon as the handset makes its global debut, possibly in February this year.
