Many gamers around the globe are now thrilled for the imminent release of Kingdom Hearts 3. As a matter of fact, fans went berserk when the title's first trailer was unveiled to the public.

Now, reports suggest that the avid followers of the franchise will get hold of Kingdom Hearts 3 very soon because it will, finally, be released on Jan. 29 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Game director Tetsuya Nomura even shared some interesting details that possibly caused the game's delay.

Nomura divulged that the good guys at Square Enix decided to upgrade Kingdom Hearts 3's engine from Luminous to the so-called Unreal Engine 4. He added that it even took them a year to "kind of rewind and restart" after the company did the big switch.

"As a dev tool, Unreal Engine 4 is kind of an all-in-one - it's got all of the stuff that is needed in it, it's used around the world, and we also got really great support from Epic Games," Nomura told EDGE Magazine. "It would have been a different story if the team making Luminous had been members of the Kingdom Hearts team. But they were a different team, so that did make things a bit more difficult," the Kingdom Hearts 3 game director added.

Nomura also revealed that Pixar and Toy Story had been very vital parts of the game's development. He even recalled saying to his team that Kingdom Hearts 3 will become a reality if they cannot use Pixar. Nomura even shared that they also decided to use the characters of the Toy Story franchise because almost everyone loves them, and they can feel the appeal of its plot.

Apart from Nomura's revelations, recent reports are also claiming that the upcoming title will be released in three different editions, namely: Kingdom Hearts 3 Standard Edition, Kingdom Hearts 3 Deluxe Edition and Kingdom Hearts 3 Deluxe Edition with Bring Arts Figurines.

In the latest Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer released in December 2018, Sora, Donald, and Goofy were seen splitting their time between hanging out with Ratatouille's Remy and Tigger, Frozen's Elsa and Anna, and watching the bloodshed in the worlds of Toy Story and Hercules.

Other famous characters seen in the Kingdom Hearts 3 clip include Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Rapunzel, Kristoff, and Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series. Organization XIII, who destroyed Sora's crew, was also seen in the teaser. This, then, gave birth to some speculations that someone could die during the said fight.
