Game geeks should not expect for the release of The Elder Scrolls 6 to happen this year. The game is a long way off, and the waiting game is not ending anytime soon. But, why?
Aside from the fact that Fallout 76 was a big flop, reports suggested that good guys in Bethesda have been teasing that The Elder Scrolls 6 is "approximately 10,000 years out." It was even said that releasing the game in an attempt to appease a number of displeased Fallout players would not help at all.
Another reason why Bethesda is not launching The Elder Scrolls 6 this year is the fact that the game developer is still working on Starfield. As a matter of fact, Bethesda bosses Todd Howard and Pete Hines previously confirmed that the company has to complete two other projects before they could, finally, work on TES 6.
The two huge projects that Todd and Himes mentioned could be the Fallout 76 and Starfield games. The fact that Fallout 76 was released already and the team is currently working on another game, it is possible that the team could only focus on The Elder Scroll 6 after the official launch of Starfield.
ZeniMax Online game director Matt Firor previously shared that fans should also take notice of the years between Bethesda releases. "The easiest thing is look at how it was announced; it was Starfield and then [The Elder Scrolls 6]," Firor said in an interview with GameSpot in October 2018. "You can go back and count the years between Bethesda Game Studios releases, and you'll get the idea that [The Elder Scrolls 6 is] not coming anytime soon," the game director added.
In June 2018, an alleged trailer of The Elder Scrolls 6 made rounds online and confirmed that the game would finally come into a reality. Based on the clip that featured dry landscapes, vast areas of coastlines and mountains, fans of the franchise speculated that the imminent game's location could be in High Rock or Hammerfell.
While a few thinks that the game's setting could either be in Breton's homeland or the Redguard people's place, others suggest that The Elder Scrolls 6 might allow players to transport from one location to another, just like in The Elder Scrolls Online. However, Howard confirmed that the location of the upcoming game had been known for a while now. Stay tuned for the latest news and updates about the sixth installment of Tamriel's adventure.
