The past seasons have been leading to the final moment of revelation on who is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. Richard Madden revealed that he does not just want one but two people to rule Westeros in Game of Thrones Season 8.
Madden may no longer be a part of the hit HBO series, but he certainly knows his Game of Thrones story. The Bodyguard star shared his thoughts about the new season during a red carpet interview at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards, and clearly, he wants new lovers Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) to rule the seven kingdoms.
"Jon and Daenerys. I think they could do it together, I think that would be good."
Madden also joins the fans in expressing his excitement to see Game of Thrones Season 8. He "absolutely" wants to see the end of the series and see if Daenerys and Jon do end up ruling Westeros together. The Scottish-born actor says he "cannot wait for the new season" to come out.
This is not the first time that Madden expressed his interest to see Jon and Daenerys win the Iron Throne. He said the same thing during a 2013 Q & A with fans for The Nerd Machine. When asked who he wants to see rule Westeros, he simply answered that he wants "a combination of Jon Snow and Daenerys" which drew out an ecstatic reaction from the audience.
In the same interview, Madden said he would haunt Joffrey Baratheon if his character would return from the dead just because everyone hates the former young king. He also gave his interpretation of the Stark family slogan "Winter Is Coming" as a foreboding of terrible things to come.
Madden played Robb Stark, the eldest of the Stark siblings, in Game of Thrones. The character briefly occupied the role of King of the North following the death of his father, Eddard Stark. Sadly, Robb met his death in the infamous Red Wedding.
The actor is making headlines recently for his role in the BBC series Bodyguard. Madden plays David Budd, a military veteran and security officer battling PTSD. His portrayal of the character won him the Best Actor Award in a TV series at the recent Golden Globes.
Now, as for who wins the Iron Throne in Game of Thrones Season 8, is something viewers will have to wait to find out when the show returns in April. Fans have been divided with their choices, with some pointing the obvious that Jon should be king since he is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen, while others say Cersei remains on the Iron Throne.
