Game of Thrones is no stranger when it comes to hiding clues in scenes and dialogues, and one particularly stands out, because it foreshadows what happens to Daenerys in Season 8. A conversation between Tywin Lannister and his grandson Joffrey Baratheon may have hinted at the queen's death.
Reddit user laser-circus looked back at one conversation between Tywin and Joffrey back when they were still alive in Season 3. The fan pointed at what Tywin advised the former young king about his desire to sit on the Iron Throne.
"Any man who must say 'I am the king' is no true king."
Interestingly, Joffrey did not live long to remain ruler of King's Landing and king of Westeros. His days on the Iron Throne were cut short when he died of poisoning.
Similarly, Stannis Baratheon, the young brother of Joffrey's father Robert Baratheon, former ruler of The Seven Kingdoms, also suffered a terrible fate. Stannis fought hard to take the Iron Throne from his nephew with claims that he is next in line. However, he too died when Brienne of Tarth beheaded him for killing King Renly with blood magic.
Although Tywin specifically only referred to men, the fan claimed that by extension, it would also pertain to women who claim they are the true ruler of The Seven Kingdoms. This applies to Cersei Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen too, since they have made it known to other people that the Iron Throne belongs to them.
"So neither Cersei, Dany nor Jon will sit on that throne in the end because they have all had to make their position as rightful ruler known to others."
This speculation supports a theory that Daenerys will die in Game of Thrones Season 8 but not Cersei. A study conducted on the deaths of the characters of the show in the past seasons revealed that those who shifted alliances at least once are still alive — meanwhile, those who did not are doomed to die.
Cersei is a serial turncoat, so that leaves her out of the death list. Daenerys, on the other hand, had never once changed alliances, which brings fans to question her fate in Game of Thrones Season 8. One long-held theory is that the Mother of Dragons sacrifices herself to fulfill the prophecy of the Azor Ahai. She dies in the hands of her lover Jon Snow to save the world from falling into darkness.
