Ford recently introduced a hybrid Explorer SUV, a technology-loaded new platform, a part of the automaker's sixth generation model of the Explorer lineup bearing the fuel economy improvements promise.
Ford began rocking the driving industry on Monday at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit as they unveiled the new hybrid Explorer SUV. The unveiling comes along the auto company's introduction of the new Explore ST. This is in fulfillment to what Ford promised that this year they will be introducing a combination of performance and extended range via efficiency hybrid line, the Engadget hinted.
The new hybrid Explorer SUV also is known as the 2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid features a 3.3-liter power strain and a V6 electric motor. Combined together, the 2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid is expected to produce a 318 horsepower. This also boasts at a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The 2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid's actual weight 4,929 pounds. The rear wheel drive model is capable of pulling to up to 500 miles range on a single fill of its 19.3-gallon gas tank. It is capable of pulling a weight of up to 5,000 pounds with 336 pound-feet of torque and top track speed of 123 miles per hour.
The Hybrid is expected to be capable to run two miles of pure electric motoring of 30 miles per hour. It is able to run with an EPA-estimated total range of more than 500 miles for rear-wheel models on a full battery.
The 2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid's liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery is strategically positioned below the second row of seats. The said strategy is evidence to what Bill Gubing, the 2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid chief engineer said that Lost cargo space in hybrids is a thing of the past for Ford customers. It is way far from the other Ford vehicles who are consuming much of the passengers' space for their awkwardly positioned batteries. Lima engine plant in Ohio will be the manufacturing base for the 2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid while the Ford Chicago Assembly plant will be the final assembly for whole Ford Explorer lineup. The hybrid Explorer SUV will be out for dealership this summer.
The 2020 Ford Explorer SUV interior features include leather seats, micro-perforation, and accent stitching, second-row heated seats, Bang and Olufsen audio system and a 10.1-inch vertically-oriented touch screen. It also offers a wireless charging feature for passengers.
