Netflix indeed is unpredictable declaring a huge amount of viewership increase in the midst of price hike implementation.

A few days after the announcement that caught a lot of streamers' attention about Netflix implementing its biggest price hike ever, the video streaming pioneer boldly disclosed figures about their viewership and subscription. The report shows that Netflix made quite a big increase in the number of their subscribers, according to MarketWatch.

After the market closed yesterday, Netflix released a report on their fourth-quarter earnings. The report says that the streaming giant increased subscription rate by 26 percent. A total of 8.84 million subscribers were added to their already long list on the holiday season alone. That makes a total of nearly 140 million Netflix subscribers across the globe.

The report only proves that Netflix' step to implement their biggest price hike of up to 18 percent is of worth to fund their original contents to cater their rapidly increasing subscribers. It also answers the questions on why Netflix is not hesitant to implement such a high subscription fee increase.

The BGR hints that the disclosing of the number of subscribers is something new to Netflix as they have always been known to very private when it comes to the company's audience trends and viewer data. This change apparently is one of the company's strategies to make sure that they stay on top with a lot of names coming out this season challenging their current standing in the video streaming industry.

Making known to the public their subscription number is not the only thing that Netflix did which apparently surprised a lot of people. They even shared more detailed information on their viewers' watching pattern.

An example of which are the figures acquired from the Bird Box. The streaming pioneer specified that the movie was watched by almost 80 million households through Netflix. 70 percent of each household population watched the movie according to their report.

Another example of a more detailed report that Netflix released is the You and Sex Education. They said that in only four weeks of airing, 40 million households had already seen the movie.
