The all-time favorite Microsoft Office is now made available on Apple's Mac App Store.
It was almost impossible for Microsoft lovers to see their favorite office application available on Apple's Mac App Store. But today's news brought rejoicing to many as Office 365 can now be downloaded on Mac devices.
This surprising news means that the Microsoft popular apps can now be easily downloaded for Mac App Store users without the need to acquire apps directly from the Microsoft official sites.
The Apple News Room hinted that Mac App Stores can now see Microsoft apps such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, and One Note as part of the list of available for download once they access the App Store.
Jared Spataro, the corporate vice president for Microsoft Office 365 expressed the Microsoft's satisfaction over Mac apps in an interview. He said that they love the idea of the App Store being the specific place for Mac Apps.
Questions then began to surface on why an earlier partnership did not take place between Microsoft and Apple. Microsoft immediately answered back to end all speculations.
Spataro explains that Office 365 subscriptions have been designed by Microsoft to be sold as application packages. Bundling is something that the Apple Mac App Store does not offer that is why it took them a while to get into partnership.
The solution to the problem came in last year when Apple decided to overhaul the Mac App Store and added some app that would be capable of bundling. The enabling of bundling then opened the door Apple Mac App Store to welcome Microsoft Office on the fold.
The Office 365 vice president further elaborated that the ability to subscribe to bundles was one of the features they brought in working with Microsoft. He specified bundling as obviously something that Mac App Store would need in order to bring in the Office 365.
Microsoft however clarified that users have the option to go to other retail outlets or go directly to Microsoft should they wish to subscribe to the bundle without going through the Mac App Store.
An individual subscription would cost a subscriber up to $69. The household subscription package which allows a piggyback on the subscription of up to six household members amounts to $99. Each member can enjoy the storage of one terabyte.
Finally, Spataro assured that Microsoft and Apple Mac App Store did a lot of work to assure users of an experience that really feels good and feels fully integrated, according to CNET.
