iOS 12.1.3 was released a few days ago. What implications does it bring to iOS 12 jailbreak hopers?

iOS 12.1.3 has just been released a few days back and its release gained various reactions from hackers and developers. Some just dropped their hope of jailbreaking the iOS 12, with Apple patching everything they could on the next iOS update so that there will be a lesser reason for users to jailbreak. However, there are some who remained optimistic and looked for ways to push through with the iOS 12 jailbreak despite the rollout of the latest Apple release.

With the number of consecutive reported developments on iOS 12.1.2 jailbreaking, Value Walk reports that a lot of reasons arise for hackers and developers to see the iOS 12.1.2 exploited vulnerabilities being pulled together to birth out an official jailbreak.

The most recent report on iOS 12.1.2 vulnerabilities exposed includes the development done by Qixun Zhao, a security researcher from Qihoo 360 Vulcan Team. He managed to exploit the iPhone x running an iOS 12.1.2. The said exploit includes arbitrary read and writes control to memory, the kind of access that could be enough to jailbreak the iOS 12.1.2.

However, the research developer did not release everything in public and left a statement that those who want to jailbreak the iOS 12 must complete the whole process themselves. He also cited that the rest of the details are in the hands of the jailbreak community.

Another success story is one from Min 'Spark'Zheng, Alibaba security researcher and Xialong Bai who gained root access to iPhone XS, XS Max, and iPhone XS by using the Port-Oriented Programming attack in exploiting vulnerabilities in the iOS 12.1.2.

One significant achievement of their discovery was the exposure of the possible vulnerabilities in Apple's A12 bionic chipset which is known to be an ultra-secure chipset. However, the discovery still cannot assure a full-fledged iOS 12 Jailbreak as one of them being a security researcher is expected to report the vulnerabilities directly to Apple instead of releasing the information to the jailbreak community.

On the other hand, Hackers and developers continue to remind those waiting for iOS 12 jailbreak to avoid upgrading to iOS 12.1.3 and to stick to older firmware to up to 12.1.2 only. If an upgrade to iOS 12.1.3 has been done, users may choose to downgrade to iOS 12.1.2 before Apple finally decides to stop signing the older firmware. Apple is expected to halt the signing of older firmware anytime now, according to the Billionaire 365.
