The Samsung Galaxy S10e and S10 leaks surfaced the internet over the past few days and it featured some interesting features like wireless earphones and charging. The leaks caused some excitement especially to Samsung users but a business website pointed out that there is a potential deal breaker in the phone's design.
The Samsung Galaxy S10e and S10 leaks, thanks to WinFuture's Roland Quandt, shows an official press photo of the Galaxy Buds placed on top of the unannounced Galaxy S10+. The Galaxy Buds are the rumored counterpart of Samsung to Apple's AirPods, according to an article published by CNET.
However, the buzz about the Galaxy Buds eclipsed a feature in the leaked Samsung Galaxy S10 phones that poses a problem. According to an article published by Forbes, it has something to do with the Samsung Galaxy S10e's fingerprint reader.
Based on Quadnt's photos, the Samsung Galaxy S10e omitted the cutting-edge Ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader featured on Galaxy S10. The worse part of it, according to Forbes, is that Samsung did not have a sensible alternative.
The fingerprint reader of Samsung Galaxy S10e was instead placed in a rectangular side-mounted power button. Forbes said that it is not just frustrating to use a rear-mounted sensor when the phone is on the table but it also offers a smaller authentication area.
The new placement of Samsung Galaxy S10e's fingerprint reader would make it harder for users to use it. Forbes said it would be easier to use the fingerprint reader when the user is holding the phone than using the power button to check lock screen notifications.
Forbes also said that this feature on Samsung Galaxy S10e will fail because it was already tried by other mobile companies. They noted that Sony's Xperia tried to make power button fingerprint sensor a thing but it did not materialize into the popularity it was aiming for.
Sony has already tried the power button fingerprint sensor back in 2015 but it did not see any success at all. Forbes said this might affect Samsung Galaxy S10e's chance of winning the public over its competition - the iPhone XR.
Forbes also said that users might not be pleased with Samsung Galaxy S10e if it will really sport a power button fingerprint sensor. The phone was also reported to have issues with its battery capacity as it was described as "underwhelming".
The Samsung Galaxy S10e also features a 5.8-inch screen, punch-hole front-facing camera, and dual rear cameras. The price is around $850.
