OnePlus has started out sending an invitation to selected media outlets for a briefing at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 25 to 28. The popular Chinese smartphone company has yet to disclose the reason for the invitations but some speculated that it is about their upcoming flagship phone.
According to a source quoted by GSMArena, the invitation from OnePlus indicates that selected media outlets should come to Ultramarinos so that they can have drinks and "a taste of the future will be on us". The source said it is clearly an exclusive party for trusted media outlets, representatives, partners, and other VIP guests.
Meanwhile, an article published in Digit indicated that the exclusive OnePlus invitation could be the time when the company will finally give a sneak peek on their upcoming flagship mobile phones OnePlus 7. They might also show another anticipated product which is OnePlus TV.
OnePlus previously told the press during the Qualcomm summit in Hawai that they will start developing the successor of OnePlus 6T. They also said that it will be one of the first flagship phones of this year.
OnePlus also said that the OnePlus 6T successor will have an 885 octa-core. This octa-core could be Qualcomm's most powerful chipset so far.
The leaked images of OnePlus 7 prototype previously showed that its display will be notch-free. The mobile phone is also expected to have near-zero bezel on all sides.
There are still some details of the next OnePlus flagship phone that has to be disclosed or clarified though. For example, it is still unclear if the front camera will be in a punch-hole on top or placed at the bottom like what was seen in the original Mi Mix of Xiaomi.
It is still unlikely for the new OnePlus phone to have a 5G network support. The company is still expected to have new technology in its products for the second half of 2019.
For the OnePlus TV, it is expected to function on Android TV OS-based interface. Pete Lau, the company's CEO, promised that OnePlus TV is going to be a smart TV with a premium build quality and top-tier audio and video quality.
OnePlus also has yet to give out the details of the camera, battery, and screen size. But with the latest development, fans of OnePlus are expecting to see the flagship phone's early launch around first quarter-end or maybe early second quarter.
