Star Wars: Episode IX has yet to have its official title, so fans have been continuously guessing the perfect title to end the Skywalker saga. As the film is about to be out in December, viewers have been waiting for its official trailer, which may soon be out.
A source told Fantha Tracks that the UK cinemas allegedly received a cryptic digital file that could contain Star Wars: Episode IX trailer. Disney allegedly sent a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) called "TT1-SW9" that stands for Teaser Trailer 1 Star Wars 9.
The file is reportedly encrypted with a Key Delivery Message (KDM), so no one could view its contents until it gets the key. It has yet to reveal when it will get the said key, but it received Aladdin's DCP two weeks before its trailer came out. Hence, there are speculations Star Wars: Episode IX's trailer may be out after a couple of weeks.
In contrary, Comic Book reported it is not Disney's style to send an encrypted file and key to release Star Wars: Episode IX's trailer. Star Wars: The Force Awakens' title was revealed in November 2014, its teaser later that month, while the movie got released in December 2015. Star Wars: The Last Jedi's title, on the other hand, was announced in January 2017, its trailer launched at Star Wars Celebration in April, and the film was out in December.
Disney's next movie release is Captain Marvel in March while the Star Wars Celebration will start in April. So, it may be a little impossible if Star Wars: Episode IX's trailer will debut in cinemas and not at the convention.
However, Rouge One: A Star Wars Story broke the tradition when its trailer premiered on Good Morning America while its behind-the-scenes reel revealed at the Star Wars Celebration. So, it might also be possible that Disney would announce an event that would release Star Wars: Episode IX's trailer, followed by its release in theaters, while its behind-the-scenes footage would be out at the event, and the announcement of the next possible Star Wars film.
Meanwhile, the fandom has also been guessing the possible title of Star Wars: Episode IX. Inverse reported Skywalker, Destiny, and Rebellion are the best possible keywords that would be part of the title.
Star Wars: Episode IX will be the culmination of the Skywalker saga. So, it may be safe to assume that there will be a Skywalker word in its title.
The word "destiny" is also often mentioned in the franchise. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Snoke, and Emperor Palpatine were often talking about the characters' destiny. The word also has an impact on every fan. Hence, it might also be included in Star Wars: Episode IX title.
Lastly, fans have been shipping for the title A New Rebellion for Star Wars: Episode IX as the Resistance will make a comeback and fight the First Order, hence the rebellion. From the looks of it, fans still have to wait for a little while as Disney may finally unveil its official title and trailer soon as the film is about to be out on December 19.
