Dirty John Season 1 which was shown in Netflix on Valentine's Day has all the qualities of a hit thriller and its true-to-life origin has all the more added to how viewers are looking forward to Dirty John Season 2. The story of John Meehan was first created into a true-crime podcast by Edgar award nominee literary journalist
Christopher Goffard for Los Angeles Times and Wondery, as he was very known for his other features of criminals, conmen, and outcasts. With his work in the Los Angeles Times as host and staff writer, he was able to compile all stories in a book with the same title Dirty John book and with this came a million of his followers who have also downloaded and followed his Dirty John podcast. With the story of John Meehan and Debra Newell, viewers went over eight episodes of deception, cruelty and more so the terrifying setbacks of online dating. When the Dirty John podcast first launched in October 2, 2017, every show was made to be a hit with over 10 million times of being downloaded in a span of six weeks from that day of its release. When Christopher Goffard made the deal with Bravo and Netflix to reenact and air his well-kept documentaries of Dirty John, the show is supposed to be a "two-season, straight-to-series order." From Dirty John Season 1 of eight episodes which focuses on the initial encounter of John Meehan with the unsuspecting interior designer Debra Newell, Dirty John Season 2 question marks are all over its plot.
The show Dirty John stars the Australian actor Eric Bana who portrays John Meehan and Connie Britton of Nashville and American Horror Story will be playing opposite to Bana as Debra Newell. Terra and Veronica Newell who have equally significant roles in the story will be played by Julia Garner and Juno Temple respectively. Dirty John Season 1 may have these two characters essential in the building of doubt and discovery of Meehan's intentions, Dirty John Season 2 will surely have similarly significant but different characters.
There is already a clear plan for Dirty John Season 2, however, it will most likely leave the Newell characters as they have already served the right sentence for John Meehan. During an interview with actress Connie Britton, the second season of Dirty John has not been discussed to any of the actors or staff and that it was believed to be a "different" and "self-contained" story. But for those who have already followed Goffard's podcast and wants to know more about Meehan's conning skills, they will have to standby and wait for an official update on its episodes and premiere date.
