And the reason behind it is due to the fact that the actor made a lot of homophobic comments on his tweets. Last January, Kevin Hart had an interview with Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show. And before the interview ends, Ellen urged the public to forgive the actor despite his anti-gay tweets, jokes, and comments.
Gossip Cop states that Ellen further revealed to the public that she was helping Kevin Hart to get reinstated as a host to the Oscars during the interview. Also, it has been revealed that she called the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for this particular issue. However, most of the members of the LGBTQ+ community did not support Ellen’s decision. She even faced a lot of criticisms after the interview. And much worse, sources claimed that her wife, Portia, was the most disgusted of them all.
According to an insider, Portia de Rossi has been frustrated with Ellen DeGeneres for a quite a long time now. And Ellen’s actions to vouch for Kevin Hart is just the final sign that she’s been looking for to get a divorce. “Portia said that they were through when Ellen called the Academy,” the insider claimed.
Nevertheless, these claims about de Rossi and DeGeneres’ divorce is not that new at all. Even before the issue (with Kevin Hart) has created an immense noise in the industry, the couple is already facing a lot of divorce rumors. Ellen even mentioned that they always hear these claims and 'rumors every week.' But as far as Ellen and Portia are concerned, nothing has changed in their marriage.
Portia de Rossi posted an Instagram photo with her wife, Ellen DeGeneres the day after the interview with Kevin Hart. Also, This Insider published a quick timeline of the couple’s love story a few weeks ago as a tribute to the couple's long-standing marriage. The publication even indicated that Ellen and Portia’s relationship/marriage is widely seen as "one of the strongest pairings in Hollywood." Moreover, the couple just celebrated their fifteenth anniversary last December.
So, these recent reports about Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s divorce are, again, nothing but rumors.
