The Greatest Showman 2 is now in the works, and fans will once again see Hugh Jackman wearing his iconic hat. After a global success, despite critics' predictions that it would be a flop, Director Michael Gracey revealed he and the record holder X-Men actor have begun working on a sequel.

In the opening of Brit Awards with Hugh Jackman's performance as the circus legend PT Barnum, Michael Gracey revealed the good news about The Greatest Showman 2. "When a movie becomes as big a success as this, it's only natural there is demand for a sequel," the director told The Sun. "So those discussions have started, and we are working on one right now."

It is not yet revealed if The Greatest Showman 2 would follow the first movie's events or it would be a prequel. But, Daily Star reported it has a lot of stories to tell. The story of PT Barnum is highly fictionalized, so there won't be a shortage of storyline to create.

The first movie ended when PT Barnum managed to establish the modern circus by opening a show in an open-air tent. He then decided to step back and spend some time with his family by giving his hat to Phillip Carlyle (Zac Efron). Since it was only based on events, The Greatest Showman 2 might begin in the 1860s with a new circus and Barnum's return.

As expected, Hugh Jackman would return to lead the cast as PT Barnum, along with the acclaimed songwriting duo Pasek and Paul, who are behind the hits "This Is Me" and "Never Enough." However, there are no words yet if Michelle Williams, Zac Efron, and Keala Settle would return to reprise their roles as Charity Barnum, Phillip Carlyle, and Lettie Lutz, respectively.

Hugh Jackman broke all the expectations surrounding the 2017 musical film when it turned to be a worldwide success. It earned a whopping $435 million at the box office, making it the third highest-grossing musical in history, and also won a Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, per Digital Spy. Its soundtrack even became the biggest selling album of the year, so the making of The Greatest Showman 2 is not a surprise.

The film's success even results for Hugh Jackman to go on a world tour, titled The Man. The Music. The Show, to perform the movie's hit songs. He will even have a six-night performance at the O2 Arena in June and will have a stop in the UK with a guest star, Robbie Williams.

Meanwhile, fans celebrate the news of The Greatest Showman 2's coming to the big screen. "They just said that there will be a 'the greatest showman' 2!" a fan said on Twitter. "'The Greatest Showman 2'? Yes please!" another follower said.
