Line Of Duty series 5 is set to come back this year, as it was previously confirmed it was renewed for another series. Viewers of the show, which is about police anti-corruption unit AC-12, are excited to see what will happen next. And although there have only been few details about it, some had already speculated about its possible release date, the new and familiar faces to return, and the plot of the next series.
Line Of Duty is admired by many fans, mainly because of the elaborateness of the plot, as well as the nail-biting interview scenes. The BBC series tells the story of the AC-12 - a fictional police squad assigned to uncover corruption within the police force. The fourth series premiered back in 2017, and viewers were left wondering about the real identity of Balaclava Man and also if Superintendent Ted Hastings is corrupt or not.
While the official release date was not yet revealed, BBC has already confirmed Line Of Duty series 5 will return on BBC One this year, expected around April 2019. It was also confirmed there will be Line Of Duty series 6, which is set to premiere in 2020.
As for the cast, the main three will surely be back: DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston), DS Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure), and Supt. Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar). The upcoming series will have Thandie Newton as Roz Huntley, and Maya Sondhi as Maneet Bindra, as reported by Otakukart.
It was also revealed Stephen Graham will be playing the role of John Corbett in the upcoming series. He is the leader of the mysterious Balaclava Men, who had been causing havoc AC-12 gang with a string of brutal crimes - such as the attack on Steve Arnott.

Another new cast joining the series is Rochenda Sandall, she will be playing the role of Lisa McQueen. She is a key figure in the organized crime group under the command of the shadowy 'H'. Both Corbett and McQueen will reportedly become the persons of interest to AC-12 after an explosive chain of events.
The plot of Line Of Duty series 5 was not yet revealed as well, but some believe it will focus on new cases and is set about two years later from the last series. The previous series focused on Roz's endeavors and cases, but the upcoming series will likely be more about the main characters of the show. Series creator Jed Mercurio previously told BBC he wanted to look at the personal lives of all the regulars in Line Of Duty series 5, and they'll definitely up for doing more.
