The story of Penny Dreadful will be continuing with Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. The spin-off series is now shaping to be very interesting with the coming of Nathan Lane, Natalie Dormer, and Jessica Garza as its cast members.

Nathan Lane will be playing the role of the veteran LAPD officer Lewis Michener, who is said to be "wise to the ways of the world and ruthless in pursuit of his goals," per ScreenRant. He, too, will be the partner and the mentor of Penny Dreadful: City of Angels' protagonist Tiago Vega (Daniel Zovatto), the Los Angeles Police Department's (LAPD) first Mexican-American detective. He has faced a lot of issues as a kid until he becomes an adult like racism, childhood trauma, and faith issues.

Now it is a big question if Lewis would have the same relationship with Tiago in Penny Dreadful: City of Angels like what Sir Malcolm Murray (Timothy Dalton) had with Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett) in Penny Dreadful. It is not yet revealed if the two shows would have a crossover, share any characters or storylines. But as John Logan returns as its writer and producer along with executive producer Michael Aguilar, it is not impossible to happen.

In addition, aside from Nathan Lane, it was recently announced that Natalie Dormer would join Penny Dreadful: City of Angels as a shape-shifter demon. The 37-year-old star, best known for her character as Margaery in Game of Thrones, would play the role of Magda. According to Den of Geek, she is a charismatic-clever-and-chameleonic "supernatural demon" who could imitate anyone's appearance as she wishes. As she would be portraying many disguises throughout the series, she would be a dangerous enemy and an important ally.

Also in Penny Dreadful: City of Angels is Jessica Garza as Josefina. She is the sister of Tiago and the youngest of the Vega family.  She is quiet and often overlooked, but she holds a very powerful spirit that is waiting to be unleashed.

Jonathan Nieve will also join Penny Dreadful: City of Angels as Mateo, Tiago and Josefina's brother. He is said to be "volatile," although he is "essentially goodhearted." Unlike Tiago, he lacks strength and ambition and is vulnerable to his own emotions and influences around him.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels is set in the 1938 Los Angeles. It will be about a mysterious crime murder with some "elements of horror and Mexican folklore." It "explores an exciting mix of the supernatural and the combustible reality of the period, creating new occult myths and moral dilemmas within a genuine historical backdrop," the show's press release read. "This chapter is a bold new vision that will employ all new characters and storylines."
