The 36th Hong Kong International Jewelry Show has attracted over 2,600 exhibitors during its opening on Thursday. The exhibit aims to promote various jewelry products to markets around the globe.

The exhibit, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, showcased exclusive collections, rare jewelry, and diverse brands that celebrated the global jewelry market as a whole.

According to Xinhua, the show featured works by both regular participants and new exhibitors. Chairman of Pak Fook Jewelry Group, Simon Lam said of the event, "This is the 18th year that we take part in this show, which is an ideal platform for us to maintain a relationship with old customers and look for new ones."

One of the most striking exhibitions during the show was that of Wen Wen Technology International Ltd. The company displayed its waterproof smart chips that can be embedded into gemstones. These chips can also be integrated into jewelry sets such as earrings and necklaces.

Wen Wen Technology's luxury jewelry can be used as tools for messaging and emergency alerts for improved communication processes. Sales Executive Karen Cheng explained that the new jewelry technology applies to a specialized mobile app that offers various functions. "When the stone turns red, it means you've got new messages on your phone," Cheng said, referring to one of the product's functions.

IT Solutions for Jewelry, which made its debut in the show last year with positive responses from the market, will highlight new technology that should help jewelry providers improve efficiency in operations.

Startup designers are also part of the annual show, including jewelry designers who are set to represent the creative culture of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. Presenters from mainland China and Hong Kong are also expected to take part in the exhibition.

The show will not only serve exhibitors who want to expose their products to the global jewelry market. It will also hold seminars and forums that will focus on exchanging ideas for a better understanding of consumer needs and demands as well as market trends that need to be highlighted.

This year's Hong Kong International Jewelry show opened at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) and will close on March 4. Asia One reported that this year's exhibitors came from 38 regions and countries.

The Hong Kong expo overlaps with another jewelry exhibit that opened on Tuesday. Closing on Saturday, the sixth Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show is focused on raw materials that the industry uses for creating quality jewelry.
