Game of Thrones (GoT) fans cannot wait any longer. Sure, there were a few teasers and trailers released a few weeks ago, but the truth is - they weren't enough and fans are craving for more.

With only 45 days remaining before the premiere of the season finale, HBO has released new stunning and revealing posters of Games of Thrones characters. And these posters feature the remaining power players of the game of thrones.

Quite obviously, it is not surprising anymore to see Jon Snow, Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, and Daenerys Targaryen in these posters. What caught the eye of many is the poster of a character who has become controversial in the early seasons.

Entertainment Weekly posted the 20 new posters as a teaser for the fans. In it, the sixteenth page shows the image of Melisandre sitting on the Iron Throne which is quite surprising.

Melisandre, who is played by Carice Van Houten, was last seen on the third episode of season 7. In this episode, she bid her farewell to Varys as she is set to go back to Volantis from Dragonstone. But before she leaves, Melisandre made a declaration to Varys that she will return for one last time. She also added that she has to die in the 'strange country', just like him.

Based on her strange declaration of fate, fans theorize that the two characters will die on the season finale of Game of Thrones. So, there were speculations already that Melisandre and Varys will return on season 8 even before the posters were released.

Game of Thrones is full of controversies, and the characters are undoubtedly controversial. This is one of the reasons why viewers and fans can't get enough of the show. But according to Time magazine, Melisandre's character is one of the most provocative roles in Game of Thrones.

She first appeared in Season 2 with Stannis Baratheon as she was the one guiding the supposed King in his paths to get to the Iron Throne. Melisandre believed that Stannis was the promised king according to the prophecies of the Lord of Light. This belief of hers caused the death of Renly Baratheon in the form of a shadow. Also, her leech ritual with Gendry was a suggestive act that caused the deaths of Joffrey Baratheon, Robb Stark, and Baylon Greyjoy.

But while these actions caused the fans to hate Melisandre's character, it all changed when she became responsible for Jon Snow's resurrection. So, if anyone is asking why her character is controversial even after reading her most surprising acts, watch the series again.

And possibly, have the ultimate Game of Thrones marathon before the season finale airs on April 14.
