Netflix officially renewed Big Mouth for Season 3. Fans of the adult animated sitcom series, however, might have to wait until September for new episodes.
While Big Mouth Season 3 does not have an official release date yet, several reports suggest that the series will return in the third quarter, given that all the previous seasons came out around late September or early October.
"We're deep into animation right now," co-creator Andrew Goldberg says of Big Mouth Season 3, as quoted by Metro. "We do some rewriting at the art and animation phase, but the show is mostly pretty set. We're still fixing things that don't quite work or changing things that don't quite look right, but we're into it," he added.
As for the plot, Big Mouth Season 3 will follow Nick Birch (voiced by Nick Kroll) and Andrew Glouberman (voiced by John Mulaney) as they continue to explore the ins and outs of puberty. This time, it will explore Nick Birch's new Hormone Monster.
It can be recalled that the Big Mouth Season 2 ended with Nick Birch traveling through a magic portal to Puberty Headquarters in order to find a new Hormone Monster. After much deliberation, he ended up with Connie the Hormone Monstress (voiced by Maya Rudolph).
Some fans, however, are not happy with Nick Birch's decision knowing that Connie the Hormone Monstress has been a bad influence since Big Mouth premiered. The said hormone monstress is known for encouraging the 7th graders, including Jessi Glaser (Jessi Klein), to embrace their wildest desires.
In fact, Connie the Hormone Monstress' influence on Nick Birch can already be noticed in the recently released special episode, "My Furry Valentine." In the said episode, he can be seen with a growing breast, which leads to some ridicule from his friends at school. His parents also noticed that he became more emotional.
Aside from that, Big Mouth Season 3 might follow Jessi Glaser as she bonds with the Depression Kitty (voiced by Jean Smart) and Andrew Gloubermn trying to win Missy Foreman-Greenwald (voiced by Jenny Slate) back after the failed Valentine's Day party.
The upcoming Big Mouth Season 3 will also see the return of Maurice the Hormone Monster, Rick the Hormone Monster, Coach Steve, Lola, The Jansen Twin, Jay Bilzerian, Elliot Birch, Diane Birch and the Ghost of Duke Ellington.
