Nintendo has announced a new Labo Kit for the Switch, one that introduces owners to virtual reality. Read on for more details.

Following the trend set by earlier Labo kits, Nintendo's new Labo VR Kit still uses creatively designed cardboard accessories but adds a pair of VR goggles to turn it into a makeshift virtual reality kit. As seen in the official Labo VR Kit page, the kit features six different cardboard kits, each of them coming with their own software.

Nintendo said the new kit, officially called the "Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit," is designed to give kids and families their "unique first VR experience." Each unique set -- the VR Goggles, Blaster, Camera, Elephant, Bird and Wind Pedal - offers distinct experiences meant to introduce people to the world of virtual reality.

The software bundled with the kit features games, detailed instructions, and the "garage" mode Nintendo introduced earlier, The Verge reported. With the garage mode, users can exercise their creativity in making their own Labo creations.

Additionally, users can share their Labo creations with one another. Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser said this is meant to encourage interactions among players, virtual or not.

The full kit, which features all six sets in one package, can be purchased at $79.99. Those who want to test the Labo VR kit without spending that much money also have the option to purchase a basic starter kit at $39.99. The basic starter kit includes the VR goggles and blaster sets. Other sets can be purchased at $20 per two sets.

Entertaining yet educational

Judging by the way each set looks like, it appears that Nintendo had no intention to let users play in VR all day unlike other VR kits. The photos don't show any headstrap that allows users to use them hands-free. They're basically meant for quick, enjoyable and creative VR experiences -- which falls in line with Nintendo's plans for the platform.

Shortly after introducing Labo to the world in April last year, Nintendo started introducing Labo to schools in an attempt to reach more people. Shinya Takahashi, Nintendo EPD general manager, told The Verge that with Labo, they are able to reach those who are not even part of the gaming demographic.

Nintendo believes that the Labo will continue to sell for a long time. With the Labo VR kit, it's even more likely to sell for a longer time.

The Nintendo Labo VR Kit will be available starting April 12.
