MotherFatherSon is the new political thriller drama on BBC Two which premiered on March 6, but a lot of viewers were reportedly confused to keep up with its plot, and many were shocked on a graphic scene as well.
Richard Gere portrays the character of Max in MotherFatherSon, while Helen McCrory plays Kathryn. The two were separated but shared a son named Caden (Billy Howle). A tragedy will soon strike forcing the separated family to get back together, and they'll eventually start working through their issues. Other casts of the drama include Steven Cree (Andrew), Ciarán Hinds (Walter), and Elena Anaya (Sofia).
The series is indeed interesting, but the multiple storylines existing on the periphery of the main plot of MotherFatherSon confused many audiences and left some question marks on their minds, as reported by Digital Spy. One Twitter user complained the show has a lot of "emoting" and "acting," but not so much on "storytelling." Another user asked who else is watching BBC Two's MotherFatherSon, and wondered what's the story is all about.
However, it's worth mentioning the show is just getting started and still has seven more episodes. So, some seemingly insignificant events that occurred in the pilot episode might probably significant later on. And aside from the confusion, a lot of viewers also praised Gere's performance during the first episode. One user said Richard Gere still "got it" even though the plot is very confusing.
Meanwhile, many were shocked with a graphic scene involving Howle's character and a prostitute. Fans cringed with the sex scene, including Caden's full-frontal nudity. In the scene, he invited a prostitute to his flat, then told her to pretend she knows nothing about what they're doing, and about they're bodies.
BBC warned viewers that the program had "very strong language" and "scenes of a sexual nature." But still, some who have watched the show with their parents took on Twitter to voice out their embarrassment. One user said the graphic sex scene is very weird, while another one regretted watching MotherFatherSon.
The character was troubled because of the pressure pressures put on him from his dad, and his troubles were very transparent on the scene as he was acting in a very rough manner with the woman whom he hired.
Meanwhile, Howle also shared his reaction upon learning he'd play such scenes. He revealed that he was shocked when he got to that disturbing moment. The level of spontaneity can be very scary, unlike what viewers have seen before, he added. Howle worked with actress Katrine De Candole, and the scene was reportedly done very sensitively on set.
