It has been almost three years since fans last saw the Lakewood survivors' bloody standoff, and a brand new start is about to be seen on Scream Season 3. MTV renewed the show back in 2016 and later announced it would be a reboot in 2017 with a whole new cast and characters. As the network has been keeping the new installment's details under wraps, will fans still see the show back on the small screen?
Scream Season 3 has been in the works. It will be taken over by the new showrunner, Brett Matthews, and executive producer, Queen Latifah. Compared to the previous seasons, the new installment is said to have only six episodes that would air for just three nights, per Digital Spy.
Scream Season 3 will be a reboot, ignoring the events of the two previous seasons. However, MTV has yet to confirm its release date, but MTV President Chris McCarthy earlier announced that it was supposed to be out in fall/winter 2017.
But the year came and went, and Scream Season 3 didn't appear on TV. It seemed like the show experienced production delay as it started filming on September 18, 2017, and ran until November 11 of the same year in Atlanta, Georgia.
In February 2018, there were reports that Scream Season 3 would be out later that year, but no glimpse of the masked murderer was seen on the small screen. More than a year has passed; fans are still waiting for an official announcement when it would be finally out.
According to OtakuKart News, Ry Cyler will be joining Scream Season 3 as Deion Elliot, together with Tyler Posey as Shane, the high school dropout, Tyga as Jamal, and C.J. Wallace as Amir. Also, Giorgia Whigham will be seen on the show as Beth, Tracy Middendorf as Maggie Duval, Will Fitzgerald as Emma Duval, and John Karn as Noah Foster. Mary J Blige will make a return as Deion's mother, Sherry Elliot, while Big Boi and horror icon Tony Odd will make their appearances in unknown roles.
Scream Season 3 will be focusing on Deion Elliot's story. He is the school's promising football player, who also has high hopes for his future. However, something that happened from his past would make a comeback to make his, his family, and friends' lives a living nightmare.
MTV is not yet giving any word about Scream Season 3's official release date, but fans are still hoping that it will be out soon. There are even theories that it will hit the small screen this year or in 2020.
