It has been a month since Netflix dropped a new set of episodes of One Day at a Time Season 3. With a surprising end, fans are now waiting for the streaming service to announce the coming of One Day at a Time Season 4, and even Rita Moreno herself pleaded for the show's renewal by singing a song.
Fans have been speculating for the coming of One Day at a Time Season 4 since Netflix dropped the previous season in February. Although the network has yet to renew the series, OtakuKart News confirmed it would be picked up for a new season.
Netflix usually takes a few months before renewing its series, so One Day at a Time Season 4 announcement may happen after a couple of months. In fact, it took three months before it ordered for a new set of episodes for Season 3 after Season 2 aired. Season 3 hit the streaming service on February 8, so fans might hear the renewal in May or June.
The web comedy series has 98 percent positive critic ratings and 89 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, so there is no way Netflix will cancel the show. Hence, the hopes are high that Netflix will announce One Day at a Time Season 4's coming very soon.
Even the living legend Rita Moreno asked Netflix to produce One Day at a Time Season 4, where she plays as Lydia Riera. On Busy Phillipps' E! late-night show Busy Tonight, the 87-year-old star, along with her co-star Justina Machado and the series' executive producer Gloria Calderón Kellett, talked about their show as they were on a mission to have it renewed.
Phillipps even suggested the move to hire a plane that would fly around Netflix's headquarters with a banner that read, "Renew One Day at a Time." "Netflix executives, if you're watching, everybody wants, and we all need, a Season 4," he said, via Vanity Fair.
When they bid goodbye to close the night, Rita Moreno did the show's tradition by singing a song about One Day at a Time Season 4. "Go watch One Day at a Time. The show's got heart and brains/We love it so much that we blew our budget on a plane," she crooned.
If Netflix ever asks for One Day at a Time Season 4, it is expected to have 13 episodes just like its previous seasons. It may also possibly come out in December 2020 if it gets renewed.
